A weekly Sewing class

Every Thursday (starting 15 January)

10am - 12pm

Get Going - Get Sewing

A beginner-friendly weekly sewing class with experienced seamstress Kate Hughes.

Get to know your sewing machine! Whether you are looking to finally face the machine that has been sitting in the corner of your room or if you are ready to progress your sewing skills further, this workshop will be perfect for you.

Across the course of these classes, you will have the opportunity to start with something simple, choosing your own pattern and learning how to read and interpret it.
You will learn how to lay patterns and cut correctly with minimal fabric wastage.
You will be assisted with the step-by-step construction of your garment and taught necessary finishing techniques.
These classes will guarantee that you leave richer in knowledge and with handmade clothing!

Bring along your machine and, if you have a preference, your fabric. However, some fabric choices will be provided, included in the lesson price.
If you have an overlocker you want to tackle, feel free to bring that too.
Don’t have a sewing machine but are interested in these classes? Get in touch with us, we may have one available – please note machine availability may vary depending on classes.

£20 per session, secure your spot now on our website.
Thursdays 10am – 12pm, beginning 15th January.
Studio One, The Art House, HOFS

About Kate:

This experienced seamstress has been sewing for over 60 years. Coming from a family of dressmakers, cutters, and tailors, she has learnt through first-hand experience.
Kate has been a resident of Hadleigh for 45 years and was even the secretary at the local Junior School until she retired!

Hear from Kate below:

“Sewing is my passion, and I’d love to share it and spread the Sewing love.
I made jeans and trousers for my husband when we first went out in the mid 60s… I made all my clothes when I was younger, then made clothes for my children when they came along.
I have a sewing studio at home here in Hadleigh where I run the occasional sewing workshops and private sewing lessons.
In 2020/2021 I began offering Sewing holidays from our beloved house in South Western France, which grew and grew and is now in its fifth year. Ladies come from all over Europe and beyond to spend a week sewing in the Sun.”
